Sports Medicine Students


The Sports Medicine Program serves with the highest standard of organization, administration, prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and management of athletic injuries.


A Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is a healthcare professional that works alongside physicians in order to achieve high quality care.  Sports Medicine services include:

-injury / illness prevention and wellness protection

-clinical evaluation and diagnosis

-immediate and emergency care

-treatment and rehabilitation

-organizational professional health and well-being

Sports Medicine Program

The Sports Medicine Program at Gladstone High School is currently a 1 year program and eventually will become a 2 year pathway program. Through academic coursework and hands-on clinical experiences, students learn how to provide immediate and follow-up care to patients while under the direct supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer. Students will be able to observe, learn from, interact with physicians, athletic trainers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, fireman, nurses, physical therapists, patients, athletes, coaches, and parents. Students enrolled in this program complete coursework in the areas of acute care and emergency management of injuries, orthopedic assessment, therapeutic modalities and exercise, biomechanics, pharmacology and medical conditions, strength and conditioning, health care administration, and psychological aspects of injury and illness.

Career Options

Certified Athletic Trainers will have the opportunity to work in high schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, clinics, professional sports, public safety, the military, and the performing arts as popular and emerging settings.
